Some sentences and Vocabularies from the bookreview:

1. whether = Apakah; expressing a doubt or choice between alternatives.

2. provide = Menyediakan; make available for use; supply.

  • Every day, people around the world use maps. Whether it is an airplane pilot or businessman, housewife or museum group, maps have always and will continue to provide useful information for all.

3. differentiate = membedakan; recognize or ascertain what makes (someone or something) different.

  • Mapping the World talks about the uses of maps, as well as how to differentiate between the type of map projection and type of map.

4. tremendous = dahsyat; very great in amount, scale, or intensity.

  • This series goes into tremendous detail on the cartographer's life and maps.

5. then = kemudian; after that; next; afterward.

6. diverse = beragam; showing a great deal of variety; very different.

  • We then journey to the present era to learn about map projections and the diverse types of maps used today.

7. flatten = Meratakan; make or become flat or flatter.

8. sphere = bola; a round solid figure, or its surface, with every point on its surface equidistant from its center.

  • No map projection is perfect, because you cannot really flatten sphere into a rectangle.

9. amazing = luar biasa; causing great surprise or wonder; astonishing.

10. excursion = tamasya; a short journey or trip, especially one engaged in as a leisure activity.

  • Our last step in this amazing excursion is the near future, where we see some hypothetical solutions as to what maps will be used for.
11. lug = membawa; carry or drag (a heavy or bulky object) with great effort.
12. directions = arah; a course along which someone or something moves.
  • people had to lug a lot of maps around to find your way from place to place, or just keep asking for directions.

13. immense = sangat luas; extremely large or great, especially in scale or degree.

  • It is a long read, but it gives an immense range and amount of information that you would not find in any other book or series on maps.
14. beneficial = bermanfaat; favorable or advantageous; resulting in good.

15. cartography = pemetaan;  the science or practice of drawing maps.

  • Collect and plant them, and you soon will have the fruits of cartographybeneficial to those who want to be cartographers.

16. utmost = sepenuhnya; most extreme; greatest.

15. passages = bagian; a short extract from a book or other printed material.

  • The flowing way the chapters and books are organized makes it easy to link passages from different books in this series together

17. endeavor = berusaha keras; try hard to do or achieve something.

  • Use this series to the utmost, then the fruits of mapping will be sweet for all who endeavor to succeed in cartography.
